The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has announced the elevation of 62 lawyers to the esteemed rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). Among the successful candidates, three are associated with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), with two – Sylvanus Tahir and Rotimi Oyedepo – being full-time employees of the commission. The third, Wahab Shittu, is a lawyer engaged by the EFCC for specific cases.
The announcement was made on Thursday evening through a statement from the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court and Secretary of the LPPC, Hajo Bello, following the LPPC’s 154th plenary session. Chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, the LPPC’s decision to elevate the lawyers recognizes their outstanding contributions to the legal profession.
Of the 62 new SAN-designates, 53 belong to the advocacy category, while the remaining 9 are academics. The full list of appointees includes notable names such as Mohammed Abubakar, Johnson Omophe, Wahab Shittu, Christopher Oshomegie, Emmanuel Idemudia, and Rotimi Oyedepo, among others.

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English.
The new SANs were sworn in on November 21, during a ceremony marking the commencement of the Supreme Court’s new legal year. The SAN rank is awarded to members of the legal profession who have shown exceptional skill and dedication, either as advocates or in the field of academia.
